Doing 3D is continuous learning. There are many aspects of 3D, it depends on what you want to focus on (Layouting, Modeling, Texturing, Lighting, Rigging, Animation, Sound Effects, Video Editing). There are many different teams of artist work together and of course, every stage has a broad range of responsibilities, not doing by a person but team effort.

Top 3D animation companies in the world are DreamWorks Animation, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, these 3 companies create a fantastic 3D animated movies and have their own 3d software. It's not easy to make 1 animated movie that take more or less 5 years to finished. Another problem is rendering time, could you imagine how long does it take to make a 5 minutes of 3D animation. Well, if we base on the level of DreamWorks, 30 hours per second of rendering time. So we already have an estimation how long does it take of 2 hours animated movie.
